We are in the home stretch folks!!! According to the calendar, I am 38 weeks pregnant. I’m pretty sure I might actually be like 59 weeks pregnant though because I have NEVER felt quite this pregnant. My due date is in exactly two weeks but I am so hopeful baby boy will decide to come sooner on his own. I’ll be honest, two weeks has never felt so far away and so close at the same time! I am anxious to meet my sweet boy and I am really ready to no longer be pregnant! BUT trying to savor these sweet moments as a family of five and what will probably be my last pregnancy.
The girls are about as anxious as I am to meet their brother! Evie keeps asking when he’ll be here and Penelope is so dang excited! We are planning to have her at the birth which makes me tear up even thinking about it. I’m also just praying it goes super smoothly to have her there and that it’s a moment she remembers forever in the best way.
Due date: June 30th, 2021
How far along: 38 weeks
How many days to go: 14 days!!!
Gender: BOY!
Size of the baby: According to the internet… baby boy is about 7 pounds, 19 inches long, and the size of a mini watermelon. He feels much bigger than 7 pounds though, he feels like a big boy!
Movement: I can tell he’s getting cramped in there, his movements feel more like rolls rather than swift kicks. He still moves a ton and makes my entire belly move around. We lay in bed at night and watch him move my belly all over the place. It’s so crazy how big his movements are! He is head down and loves putting his head right on my pelvic bone, it hurts so bad and makes it hard to walk… that is definitely not something I’ll miss!
Total weight gain so far: 16 pounds.
Belly button in or out: Out, so far out.
Favorite maternity clothes right now: My belly is sooooo sensitive so I basically strip down to jammies as soon as I get home. Lots of loose tank tops and yoga pants. I just got lots of lounge pants that I have been living in. They’ll be perfect for after baby too!
Sleep: I’ve actually been sleeping pretty well! I still wake up all throughout the night to roll over and try and get comfortable or to pee but I can usually fall right back asleep. No hours of laying awake (all the praise hands).
Mood: If you’ve been pregnant before, you know the last few weeks of pregnancy are pretty rough. I have been super anxious and emotional. I have been feeling frustrated over everything. And to be honest, I’m just feeling nervous about labor and delivery. I’m really trying to trust the birth process and I know that God is holding me and this sweet boy in His hands but dang. That mental game to prepare for birth is so real! Things are making me emotional. I cry because my kids are growing too quickly. I cry because the girls are so excited about their brother and say the sweetest things. I cry because I’m tired of being pregnant and I want to meet my baby. I cry because my body hurts, but I feel so blessed to be carrying a healthy baby. I cry because I’m anxious about life changing. I cry because I’m nervous about having to birth a freaking human out of my vagina! I cry listening to Hamilton because it’s so sad and well written…you get the idea.
Honestly I go back and forth between feeling so anxious to meet my baby and scared of life changing. I’m mostly just excited though. It’s a lot of emotions mixed with lots of pregnancy hormones running wild.
Food cravings: Lately nothing sounds good. I also have heartburn pretty much around the clock so that could be why! And there is just literally no room in there so guessing that’s not helping.
Favorite moment this week: I loved seeing this sweet baby on the ultrasound last week! We usually only do a 20 week ultrasound but we wanted to do one later in this pregnancy to check on size and body measurements because of how Theo’s birth went. He had his hands in front of his face pretty much the whole time but was seriously the cutest human ever! Everything checked out great which was really reassuring and made me even more excited to meet this guy. I also couldn’t believe how “real” he looked! I was like, “there’s an actually BABY in there!” I also did a membrane sweep at my midwife check up and she told me he is in a really good position so that was super reassuring and I felt a lot of relief after that appointment. AND Evie felt him kick for the first time which was so super sweet and special. She was like, “Mom, he totally kicked me!!!” 🙂
I’m missing: I’m just feeling so damn uncomfortable! My body feels huge and I can’t wait to feel a little more like myself again. Although I guess when you have a newborn you really don’t feel like yourself and your body is pretty uncomfortable for a while too so there’s that.
Biggest complaint: Honestly just trying to keep my anxiety in check. Focusing on the positives of birth, savoring these last few weeks/days, trying to rest and still do all the things. It feels like a bit of a juggling act.
Nursery: The nursery is still not done. haha I feel like this is total fourth baby problems. This time around you know how long it will actually be until a baby is fully in their nursery and you actually need one. BUT I do have a vision and we are waiting on a few more things to arrive and then going to throw it all together. So stay tuned!
Labor signs: Lots and lots of random Braxton Hicks contractions, but nothing close together or regular. So much cramping and tightness in my belly but nothing official yet.
Oh baby brother, we’re so excited to meet you!!!
