Celebrating everyday magic

Bumpdate: 25 Weeks

June 4, 2021

Due date: June 30, 2021

How far along: 25 weeks!

How many days to go: 107

Gender: BOY!!!

Baby’s name: We’re still unsure! We’re going back and forth A LOT and have lots of favorites but it feels so permeant especially because this is most likely our last baby so we gotta use up our MOST favorite one! 😉

Size of the baby: He is over a foot long and weighs about a pound and a half.  They say he’s the size of an acorn squash. The sweetest little squash EVER.

Movement: Starting to feel alllllll the sweet little kicks and flutters! My placenta is in the front (just like it was with Evie) so it blocks most of baby’s movements but I am loving feeling all the gentle flutters now!

Total weight gain: 10 pounds!

Most recent check up: Super active baby with lots of movement and a really strong heartbeat. Every time I go in he is moving like crazy which makes me think he’s going to be a wild one! Or another wild one I should say!

Belly button in or out: in but that baby is barely hanging on! Thinking it will pop out soon!

Favorite maternity clothes right now: You guys. This will NEVER be a fashion blog. I have been living in whatever is comfy so jeans, maternity t-shirts, and pajamas…send help on the fashion front immediately!

Sleep: Super crummy sleep lately!!! Ugh.

Mood: Honestly, this has been a rough one. I have taken a turn and have just felt so freaking blue. Not depressed just blah and so not like myself. I’ve talked to my midwives and Drew about it (which I think is super important) and am starting to take some actions and steps forward. Acupuncture and Chiropractic being 2 of them. We also we have a big family trip planned in the next few months so I feel like that will be a major mood booster. As vacations always are! 😉 My biggest advice would be if you’re feeling not like yourself, TALK TO SOMEONE! Don’t keep that hidden thinking you need to hold it all together! Get some support and help from someone you trust. Just verbalizing your fears and needs can make a HUGE difference.

Food cravings: Honestly not much! I wish I was one of those Mamas who is dying for something but I’ve never been that way in any of my pregnancies! If anything food doesn’t sound that great but I know that will change as soon as this guy comes and I start nursing…and I will be starving all. the. time.

Favorite moment this week: Feeling this little guy get bigger and stronger. I can tell he’s growing and I love thinking about his little personality and how he will fit into our family.

I’m missing: Sleep and just generally feeling like myself! I keep waiting to get that big burst of energy but it’s just not coming.

Biggest complaint: This pregnancy has been super hard on me mentally. I think it has a lot to do with the weather, lack of sunshine, it getting dark so early, and of course, Covid and things being shut down hasn’t helped. BUT I am starting to do lots of “self care” and I think that will make a big difference. And brighter, longer days are just around the corner!

Recent baby purchase: Not too much but I did buy a few super cute onesies that look so comfy and soft. Perfect for his first few days home. (insert allllll the heart eyes)

Nursery: Seriously ZERO progress in this department (I feel so lame!) but we have plans to do some work on it this weekend!

Labor signs: None and lets keep it that way! 😉

BABY #4 GENDER PREDICTIONS

May 30, 2021

*Okay you guys! Going through old drafts and found this one THAT I NEVER POSTED!!! We have know the gender for MONTHS but this was too good not to share and to live on the blog forever! 😉 So here it is…about 10 weeks old!

It’s about that time!!! 20 weeks in and we finally get to see that sweet face and find out if we’re adding another sister or brother into the mix! I always feel like once you know what you’re having, things start to “get real”. 😉

Here are a few old wives tales and fun predictions I thought I’d share:

Chinese Gender Calender: GIRL (it has always said boy and has been wrong twice!)

Skin changes (they say boys make your skin better and girls make your skin worse-think acne): my skin has had a few breakouts in the first trimester but overall looked pretty good (if I do say so myself!)

Nausea (nausea usually means its a girl, no nausea means it’s a boy): I have been pretty nauseas, but NOTHING like I was with both girls. Each pregnancy has been less nausea than the last.

Cravings- sweets (girl) or salty (boy): Alllll the salty things

Cravings- fruit (girl) or meats and cheese (boy): meats and cheese

Headaches- yes (boy) or no (girl): No headaches until recently

Leg hair (less hair means girl, more hair means boy): I haven’t noticed any change so I’m not sure on this one!

Does your husband have more brothers or sister: a sister but he was adopted and biologically he has several brothers!

Feet warmer (girl) and colder (boy): a bit colder than normal!

Has dad gained weight (boy) or none at all (girl): He has gained some weight with me! So supportive!

Chest has not grown (girl) or it has grown (boy): GROWN!

Urine- bright (boy) or dull (girl): bright

Sleep-if you sleep mostly on your left side it’s a boy, on your right side it’s a girl: left side

Out of the 13 “gender predictors” 10 say it’s a boy, 2 say it’s a girl, and one really has no difference. This pregnancy feels soooooo much like Theodore’s which was so different from both the girls so Drew and I are both guessing it’s another boy! We will be thrilled with a healthy baby either way but I will honestly fall out of my chair if it’s a girl! We cannot wait to find out!!! EEEEEKKKKK!

EASTER EGG-TIVITIES

April 2, 2021

Easter is just a few days away and I’m finding myself trying to cram in every possible cute egg activity that ever popped up on my feed! Anyone else with me?!? And while all that cutsie stuff is super fun, I always try to pair it with tangible teaching and learning opportunities. When I was teaching in a classroom I would call that craft-tivities. The pairing of a cute craft and activity to provide a fun hands on learning opportunity for my Littles. Homeschooling is no different. We are always trying to get the most bang for our buck. Sometimes we do a fun project just for a fun projects sake, but even pairing it with a good book or quick lesson makes it so much more worth it!

Right around Easter I love to teach about oviparous animals and it’s so easy to incorporate into our egg-tivities. I bought a cute April Science packet from the amazing Cara Carroll and Abby Mullins and it is packed full of great learning resources that I sprinkle though our learning. The other arts and crafts projects are Pintestest inspirations that I just pair with a little learning. A few of our favorites have been mosaic eggs, egg hunts with sight words, spill and count, finding eggs hidden around the house with candies inside that you get to spill and count (and eat!) exploding eggs with food coloring, baking soda, and vinegar, and of course, dying eggs!

Penelope got a bird house and birdseeds from Mimi and Papa for her birthday and it has been so much fun watching all the birds that come by! That house is always hoppin’! She sits by the window with her bird books and sketches all the birds she sees. It’s been such a fun way to incorporate eggs, nests, and birds into this Spring season. What are some of your favorite egg-tivities this season?! XO
